Nuevo miembro del Comité Editorial de la Revista ECIPerú: Francisco García Fernández (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid)

Dr. García has over fifteen years of experience in building materials quality control, specially in the fields of wood-based products, covering quality control and standards for testing materials. His international experience includes technical assistance to the Portuguese National Accreditation Institute (IPAC) for construction products testing and laboratory audits according to ISO 17025, as well as research with the UniversityTransportation Center for Mobility (UTCM – Texas Transportation Institute) to develop of a short-term prediction model for commercial vehicle crossing times at the United States-Mexico border and visiting lecturer at the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (Lima – Perú) and Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (Lima – Perú). He has lectured and published extensively in Europe and Latin America, including Peru, Mexico and Chile.
Dr. García is currently lecturer of wood-based products technology at Polytechnic University of Madrid, and the person in charge of the wood-based products, windows and doors Department of the Wood Technology Laboratory at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Prior to joining the Madrid Polytechnic University faculty, he worked for eleven years for the Wood and Cork Research Association (AITIM in Spanish), a technical consulting firm for wood-based products and wood building materials. Some of his most relevant assignments include: standard for testing materials assistance; wood building materials factories auditing; windows, wood-flooring and doors factories auditing and technical assistance for wood products factories.

Dr. García is expert in data analysis and modelling. Actually he is the person in charge of researching data analysis in the Wood Technology Laboratory, both with artificial neural networks or statistical techniques.

He holds a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Wood Technology from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

1. The use of  artificial neural network to model the mechanical properties of construction materials (Wood based products, concrete, alloys…)
2. Wood industrial manufacture modeling and control.
3. Wood sorption properties.
4. Mechanical and physical  properties of Wood and Wood-based materials
